Alan Garcia's Foothill Finals photos.

Mary Cain, a prep soph, shy of 1500 B standard by .1 sec. Story.

Why college football should be banned. I agree, but I need to be discrete. Could be lynched even in polite company. We live in Track Town, and yesterday were at the Twilight meet at Hayward Field. Wheating and Hasay competed. Bridget Franek ran a world-leading steeple. But probably the most applause was given to D'Anthony Thomas, the Ducks scholar-athlete from Crenshaw High. Eugene is around-the-bend, bughouse about the Ducks. ...Twilight story here.

Adam Nelson (yeah, the shot put guy): A World -Class Athlete: What are the Key Attributes?

Phantastic photos from the Oregonian on the Oregon Twilight.

I ran the Masters 3000 at the Oregon Twilight. Best of the Northwest, and I was butt last. Results and race video here. Will spare you the litany of excuses, some of them even true. ...You might remember the second place finisher, Craig Godwin, 42, formerly a SCV resident, now living in Eugene and the go-to and good guy for the Oregon Track Club Masters. Before the race he said he and the winner were going to convoy another to breaking Rich Burns' national 55 age group record. Of course, when lapped, I tried to hip check that pretender into the cheap seats, but they went by too fast. ...The race results (and the meet, for that matter) were delayed until the last and oldest finisher reached the line, but were then available almost instantaneously. ...We were treated like track gods, going through the same areas and routines as the elite. A total thrill.

I'm actually 45 now. And Rich Burns national record of 9:21 held up. We did a good job with the pacing duties, coming through 1600m in 4:57 and finishing at 9:15 and 9:17. But the 55 year old (David Cannon) fell off the pace over the last 3 laps and slipped to 4th in 9:32. Don't take a Rich Burns record lightly!

Nor sure, it depends on how my recovery goes. I haven't tried any speed work yet. I did better than expected at Lone Pine though. I got in a few sub 8 miles.
